Seriously? - Legendary Edition
Posted January 15th, 2008 by Timmy 2x4I was browsing through this week’s EBgames ad online when I made an unfortunate discovery. They have the Legendary Edition of Halo 3 available for $79.99. You know, the game I paid $129.99 for after pre-ordering it almost a year in advance. Ugh, I just got physically ill writing that last sentence.
I realize you could make a strong case that paying so much for one game is nobody’s fault but my own. I can’t really argue with you. My complaint is that I was deceived into believing it would be exclusive and extremely hard to come by. Even now, EBgames hasn’t bothered to change their sales copy for the game. Check it out:
The object of my ire? Not EBgames, as they were merely the vessel delivering my treasured game. I’m actually more upset with Bungie. I followed Halo 3 pretty closely for many months up to its release. More than a few Bungie.net weekly updates led me to believe the Legendary Edition would be in short supply. I nearly canceled my pre-order after I got the phone call from EBgames informing me of the the price increase from $99 to $129, but I hung onto it thinking I was getting something worthy of a true super-geekfan.
The saving grace in all this? Halo 3 is an unbelievable game. I suppose I can forgive Bungie because they seem like cool people and they made such a fantastic game. Plus, I’m sure the exorbitant price and saturation of the market was at Microsoft’s behest. Still, I can’t help feeling a little like that prophet I offed in Halo 2… what was his name again? Oh yeah, regret.
In the end, I guess that’s why it’s the “Legendary,” not “Limited,” Edition. Seriously, Bungie? Shame on you.

Yo 2×4, I got your message on xbox. Unfortunately, today was my last day of winter break, so I won’t be able to play as much–my goal was to become a little bit competitive in Halo over the break, and I think I’ve accomplished that somewhat. Needless to say, I’ve got a long way before I catch up with you. I would not rest on your laurels though. haha.
